Bear awareness workshop
Monday, May 5, 2025 | 6 to 7 pm
Whitehorse Public Library meeting room (on the main floor)
The ELCC branch is proud to partner with Yukon Conservation Officer Services to offer this exciting and informative event for early childhood educators currently working in licensed early learning and child care programs.
This bear awareness presentation is designed to guide educators on how to safely coexist with bears in their natural habitat while working with children.
Educators can expect to learn about:
- bear behaviour;
- best practices for minimizing human-bear conflicts; and
- how to respond to a bear encounter.
The session will be completed with a practical exercise using inert bear spray, tying together the knowledge gained during the session.
We have hit capacity. Registration for this workshop is now closed.
If you are still interested, please reach out to earlylearning@yukon.ca. If there is enough interest, we may be able to offer this learning opportunity again.
You can also reach out toYukon Conservation Officer Services directly at coservices@yukon.ca to find out about more of their upcoming workshops.
