Create, reflect, connect: an ELCC makerspace

Saturday, November 15, 2025 | 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Whitehorse Public Library meeting room (on the main floor)

Join the Early Learning and Child Care team for Create, reflect and connect: an ELCC makerspace, an inspiring 4-hour workshop designed to spark the imagination and nurture our well being.

This makerspace session has been developed to complement both ELCC’s It Starts with a Book: nourishing SEL one story at a time series and Self-Regulation for the Educator workshop by celebrating creativity as a pathway to self care and literacy.

We invite educators to slow down, explore, and let their creativity flow. The art of creating can help regulate emotions, foster mindfulness, and build the same sense of connection and balance we strive to nurture in children. You might stitch a cozy felt story mat, paint something colourful, or start a tiny garden project to bring nature into your space. Whatever you decide, you’ll leave with handmade resources to enrich your work with children, fresh ideas to inspire playful literacy learning, and a renewed sense of calm and connection.

This session is available to early childhood educators currently working in licensed early learning and child care programs.

Come and enjoy connecting with other educators, light snacks, and time to play, create, and recharge. Take this opportunity to craft something meaningful, for your classroom and for yourself.
