Culturally responsive practice in action - Outdoor learning

Did you know the learning that happens in indoor spaces can happen outdoors too?

Join the ELCC team for a free evening of fun in the sun as we explore outdoor learning.

The ELCC team is hosting a fun and interactive workshop for early childhood educators working in licensed early learning and child care programs all about learning outdoors.

Educators will explore a variety of ways to bring learning experiences into the outdoor environment in culturally responsive ways using materials from ELCC culture kits. The many benefits of bringing learning outdoors will be explored including:

  • promoting physical health;
  • supporting mental health and well being;
  • fostering nature connection and environmental education;
  • and promoting reconciliation.

In this workshop, educators will also dig into:

  • designing outdoor learning spaces and experiences;
  • selecting materials with intention;
  • preparing for spontaneous opportunities for learning; and
  • health and safety considerations when exploring the outdoors with young children.

Snacks will be provided.
