developing self-awareness
Wednesday, October 15, 2025 | 6 to 7:30 pm
Whitehorse Public Library meeting room (on the main floor)
Have you ever had trouble making sense of how you feel? Are the children you work with feeling a little mixed up too? The Color Monster can relate and wants to help!
Join the ELCC team as we dig into ways of helping young children recognize, name, and express their feelings through stories, activities, and discussion! We will explore practical tools and strategies for guiding children in developing self-awareness (a pillar of the CASEL framework) as part of their social and emotional learning journey.
Educators will learn to:
- Recognize how children communicate emotions verbally and non-verbally.
- Support children in naming emotions and identifying when they are having a feeling, including an understanding of internal cues they may experience.
- Implement hands-on activities that make feelings visible and understandable for young learners.
- Explore strategies that weave self-awareness into daily routines and play.
- Support the development of children’s vocabulary, an important oral language skill.
Snacks will be provided!
