Connect, play, empower
Thursday May 29, 2025 | 6 to 7:30 pm
Whitehorse Public Library meeting room (on the main floor)
The ELCC team invites childhood educators working in licensed early learning and child care programs to join us for another learning through play workshop where we explore community involvement.
Play is a powerful way of connecting young children to their community. Through engaging in activities that promote cultural awareness and introduce social responsibility, children have fun play experiences while also learning about the community (and world) they live in.
In this workshop, educators will:
- discover how community connections enhance children’s learning experiences;
- explore how to use local landmarks, traditions and community roles in ways that make play activities more culturally relevant for young children;
- learn strategies to help children feel connected to their community through play;
- explore ways of involving families and community members in play-based learning activities; and
- engage in group discussion and activities.
Snacks will be provided.
