Play, protect, preserve
Wednesday, June 18, 2025 | 6 to 7:30 pm
Whitehorse Public Library meeting room (on the main floor)
Join the ELCC team for our final workshop in the learning through play series for early childhood educators working in licensed early learning and child care programs.
This month we will explore environmental stewardship!
Together we will discover ways of supporting children’s connection and sense of personal responsibility to the land and living things through meaningful play experiences.
In this workshop, educators will:
- explore ways of helping children understand their role in protecting the environment through simple, everyday actions;
- discover how playful activities can teach about topics such as reducing waste, conserving water and caring for plants and animals;
- learn and share strategies to inspire children to explore and appreciate the natural world through hands-on play experiences;
- explore ways to model environmental responsibility by using sustainable materials and practises in daily routines;
- discuss how collaborative activities (community clean-ups or group planting projects) can teach young children about working together for a common goal.
Snacks will be provided.
