Learning through play - sensory play

Feel, play, learn!

Wednesday, November 20, 2024 | 6 to 7:30 pm

Whitehorse Public Library meeting room (on the main floor)

The ELCC team is hosting a fun and interactive learning through play workshop series for early childhood educators working in licensed early learning and child care programs and this month we are diving into sensory play!

Let's discover engaging ways of providing sensory-based play experiences that support children's learning and development as they explore the world around them.

In this workshop, educators will:

  • learn how sensory play supports children’s cognitive, physical, language, social and emotional development;
  • identify and develop play experiences that engage children’s senses (touch, sight, sound, smell and taste);
  • discover ways of adapting sensory play to support children with different needs and abilities;
  • gain ideas for simple and low-cost sensory activities to use with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children;
  • understand how to organize sensory play experiences safely; and
  • engage in group discussion and hands-on activities.

Snacks will be provided.

We have hit capacity and registration for this workshop is now closed.

Information on registering for our next workshop in the Learning through play series will be available soon.
