Learning through play - social and emotional learning

The ELCC team is hosting a fun and interactive learning through play workshop series for early childhood educators working in licensed early learning and child care programs.

This month we will explore activities that support children's development of social skills and emotional awareness. 

In this workshop, educators will:

• explore how different types of play support various aspects of social and emotional learning;
• learn how to use activities to help children identify and express their emotions, self-regulate, and cope with challenging situations;
• develop strategies for facilitating cooperative play that builds teamwork, communication and conflict resolution; 
• discuss how to design play spaces to foster positive interactions and relationships;
• reflect on personal practices, as an educator, to better support children's social and emotional development during play; and
• engage in group discussion and hands-on activities. 

Snacks will be provided.
