Strong hearts: building resilience and fairness

Thursday, April 16, 2026 | 6 to 7:30 pm

Strength is built through challenge!

When children face challenges, take risks, experience setbacks, and try again resilience grows. These moments are also where children begin to notice fairness, inclusion, and how their actions affect others.

Join us for an interactive workshop exploring how resilience and a sense of justice develop through everyday experiences. Together, we will look at ways of creating environments that support inclusion, equity, and fairness through open-ended play, shared problem-solving, and everyday challenges.

This workshop is being offered to early childhood educators currently working in licensed early learning and child care programs in Yukon.

In this workshop, educators will explore:

  • How supporting children through challenge and conflict connects to CASEL competencies, with a focus on self-management, social awareness and responsible decision-making.
  • Practical strategies to support children through mistakes, frustration, and “learning to fail” in a safe and encouraging way.
  • How loose parts play creates opportunities for risk-taking, collaboration, and exploring fairness and problem-solving with others.

Snacks will be provided!
